It has no single, clearly defined receptor and acts as a central nervous system modulatory substance capable of crossing the blood-brain barrier
1. Enhances deep δ-wave slow-wave sleep: Increases delta waves in the EEG and enhances slow-wave sleep (SWS); the deep sleep phase is the window for peak GH secretion, tissue repair, and memory consolidation. Unlike sleeping pills, it does not act as a sedative or anesthetic but rather regulates the structure of physiological sleep
2. Regulation of the HPA axis: Inhibits stress-induced elevations in ACTH and cortisol, improving stress-related insomnia; exhibits adaptogenic properties
3. Neuroendocrine Regulation: Promotes GHRH release and inhibits somatostatin, synergistically enhancing GH secretion; simultaneously regulates LH

Pharmacokinetic Properties
– IV half-life is approximately 30 min; rapid absorption following subcutaneous administration, with peak effect occurring at approximately 90–120 min and lasting for several hours
– Tryptophan residues are prone to oxidation; storing the solution away from light is critical
Dissolution and Storage (Laboratory Procedures)
1. Dissolution solvent: BAC (bacteriostatically treated water) / AA (acetic acid-sterilized water); dissolve by gentle rolling; do not shake vigorously
2. ⚠️ Critical: Tryptophan (Trp) degrades upon exposure to light; keep away from light throughout the entire process
3. Lyophilized powder: Store long-term at -20°C in a sealed container away from light; stable for up to 3 years; store short-term at 4°C
4. After reconstitution: Refrigerate at 2–8°C away from light; use within 21–30 days; aliquot and freeze at -20°C; repeated freeze-thaw cycles are strictly prohibited; yellowing of the solution indicates oxidation and degradation
